Current Participants:

The four states in EPA Region VII:

  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Missouri
  • Nebraska

Emergency responders in Iowa, including about 150 county Local Emergency Planners, HazMat Teams, and fire departments.

Nebraska is also starting to add local emergency responders.

Participants in Development:

Four of the states in Region V are currently planning to use HERE:

  • Illinois: estimate in production in mid-October 2008; facility and drinking water data 
  • Michigan: estimate in production in November 2008; facility and Tier II chemical storage data
  • Minnesota: estimate in production in mid-October 2008; facility data
  • Wisconsin: estimate in production in October 2008

Several other states are discussing the proposal, including the Gulf states and North Carolina.

New Functionality

  • The four states in Region VII have received a Network 08 grant to develop two new plug-ins for Tanks and Agricultural Chemicals, as well as add to each state's flows in HERE.
  • Region V states are in the planning stages to see if other enhancements will be added.
