Example Complex GML Exchanges
From Exchange Network Wiki
If the geo data in your schema is restricted to the geometries covered by GeoRSS GML (point, line, polygon, and bounding envelope) you should use the Recommended Practices for Integrating GeoRSS GML into Exchange Network Schema. If your schema must contain more complex geo data, the full GML specification may suit your needs. For example, if your data consists of polygons that contain “donut holes” (polygons within polygons that together represent a single feature) then the GML Simple Features profile may be more appropriate. If you decide to use a geospatial data format other than GeoRSS GML, please contact Louis Sweeny (louis.sweeny@ross-assoc.com) or Shawna McGarry (shawna.mcgarry@ross-assoc.com), so we can update the following list of environmental GML profile communities and examples.
Environmental GML profile communities and examples
- The National Hydrography Dataset uses GML Simple Features Profile (http://www.ogcnetwork.net/gml-sf) for surface water boundaries
- The Kentucky Watershed Modeling Information Portal (http://technology.ky.gov/gis/kwmip/) uses WFS Simple (http://www.ogcnetwork.net/wfssimple)
